Music Lessons
The Australian Academy of Music caters for muscians of every level; whether you are just starting out or are doing high level exams, we can find the teacher that perfectly suits your needs. We have ten music studios on-site and hold lessons from Mondays to Thursdays (in school terms) from early afternoon until 8:30pm and Saturdays 8am-4pm. All of our teachers are highly qualified and all have blue cards.
Lessons are $27.00 per half hour; when you enroll with us and payments are made monthly in advance via direct debit authorisation. We can also offer a trial lesson to start you off; if you would like this option; the lesson is at the cash rate of $29.00 which is paid for when you book in.

If you need to put music lessons on hold for any reason, or if you would like to cancel music lessons altogether, please see this link, fill out the form and either email to playtodaymusic@bigpond.com or drop in store.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy if you cannot attend a lesson for any reason. If this notice is provided we will either try to arrange a make up lesson or you will be credited on your next monthly invoice. Please note that there are no regular lessons in the school holidays, but we do offer holiday workshops.

Nick Kirkpatrick
Nick has been teaching guitar and bass for the past 6 years and can teach from absolute begginer level to high level examinations. Nick is also a professional muscian on the Sunshine Coast, playing gigs on a weekly basis.
Nick Teaches Tuesday-Thursday and Saturdays.
Cassidy Mackie
Cassidy's love of music began at the ripe old age of four, when she had her first piano lesson. Since those early beginnings, she has gone on to complete all grades up to and including her Grade Eight AMEB Piano For Leisure exam. As well as developing a love of piano, Cassidy found a passion for both singing and songwriting. After auditioning alongside school students throughout Queensland, Cassidy was selected as a Featured Vocalist for two consecutive years for 'Creative Generation: State Schools Onstage' - a statewide celebration of The Arts held over two days in July at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. She is also no stranger to the stage and theatre - she has secured lead roles in both amateur and semi-professional shows such as Thoroughly Modern Millie, High School Musical: The Musical and All Shook Up. Cassidy's compositional skills have been recognised at many statewide competitions and performances. She is looking to record her first album soon.Cassidy teaches Vocal and Piano Mondays-Fridays
Andrew DooPlaying since he could pick up sticks, Andrew Doo has always strived to create a lively and enthusiastic musical environment in both performance and education. From playing Rock and Roll gigs around the Brisbane scene to studying Jazz at the Queensland Conservatorium, the young drummer brings a range of styles and textures to the drum kit, which benefits his students at all playing levels. Above all Andrew prides himself on his professionalism. His supportive and enthusiastic personality is reinforced by a confident and organised lesson.

Hayley began classical music training aged eight and has recently graduated a Bachelor of Music (Specialisation: Music Theatre) from the Central Queensland Conservatorium. During her time there she was tutored in classical and music theatre voice by Kim Kirkman, founder of rock opera group The Ten Tenors. She performed with the Brisbane Birralee Voices for five years, highlights of which included performing as part of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, and representing Australia at the World Vision International Children’s Choir Festival. Hayley has been a long time cello student of Sue Taylor, and has played in numerous community orchestras and Queensland Youth Orchestras, reaching QYO2. Hayley has experience teaching both children and young adults. She enjoys a positive teaching method with a strong emphasis on foundations and technique, whilst maintaining a sense of fun!

Kassie Sofia
Kassie’s love of music began at the age of 7 when she started taking keyboard lessons. From here, her passion for music grew, with Kassie recently having completed and achieving Honours in the Guild AGMED A.Mus.A and L.Mus.A Contemporary Piano Performance Examinations, with Kassie invited to perform at the ceremony held in Melbourne in April 2011. With a Bachelor of Music, majoring in piano performance, and a Diploma in Secondary Education under her belt, Kassie hopes to study her Masters in Music Therapy at the University of Queensland over the next few years. Kassie is also a singer-songwriter and has been playing guitar for 8 years. She plays solo gigs on a regular basis around Brisbane, and plays keyboard, guitar and vocals in an indie-rock band named Foxes.
Kassie Teaches on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.



Sean began music at an early age and shortly after picking up a guitar became obsessed with music. With a love for Blues, rock and folk Sean began playing in bands in high school with his brother holding down the rhythm on drums. After a couple of years of playing he began sitting in with Concert bands, Jazz ensembles, Big bands, marching bands and numerous rock bands. After leaving high school he studied a diploma of contemporary music and a certificate III in music industry business. Sean is currently playing and singing in Brisbane based rock band ‘TrashQueen’ who have played some of Brisbane’s finest Venues as well as Sydney and Melbourne, Been nominated for a Queensland music award and opened for legendary Aussie Bands such as Rose Tattoo. Sean has a passion for what he does and loves sharing he’s knowledge with all that he can.
Sean teaches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will be available Saturdays in Term 2 2013!!
Brendon Beltrame
Vili Toalo
Vili has been playing trombone and violin since he was 14. He is currently in his third year of studying a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Trombone Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium. He has almost 2 years of teaching trombone/trumpet/violin under his belt including private and group teaching. He has received many awards including the Pacific West Foods Scholarship and the Mary O'Neil community award for excellence in music. His performance experience is vast with playing principal trombone in SHEP (State Honours Ensenble Program), Queensland Conservatorium's Young Wind and Symphony Orchestra's and The Island Brass Academy in Tasmania. Vili's teaching style focuses on in stilling the basic fundamental concepts of music and then building a flawless technique around this. In the future Vili hopes to land a job as an orchestral trombonist and while also continuing his passion for teaching at the same time.

James Halloran
James began his musical training at the age of ten and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland University of Technology. His speciality is voice. in which he has been trained in classical as well as music theatre and contemporary styles. He is also an accomplished piano player. James writes original material as a composer and has performed along side some great Australian names such as Emma Dean and Jacob Diefenbach. Coming from a background in physical theatre, James strongly believes in not only developing incredible musicians, but developing incredible performers emphasizing the importance of presence on stage. His teaching methods focus strongly on developing strong technique while being able to command an audience. James has been surrounded by the performing arts his whole life, and dreams to make it his future.
