History

Play Today Music is owned by John Morris, and is a family music store staffed by wife Lesley Morris, son Mitchell Morris and Amanda Russell (who is just like family). John Morris started his musical career in the late 1970's as an apprentice piano tuner working for his father's business: The Australian Academy of Music. He went on to run his own successful piano tuning business and was president of the Piano Tuners and Technicians Guild of Queensland during the late 1980's.

Never one to rest on his laurels, John undertook the training to become a qualified band instrument repair technician and then became the manager of the brass and woodwind section of the Australian Academy of Music.

Lesley Morris was the education consultant of the Australian Academy of Music from 1991 until 2000, she was responsible for all band instrument sales, orchestral percussion, orchestral string sales and print music sales relating to schools and universities during this time.

John opened his own music shop in 2000 at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, but after 7 years of commuting to the coast 6 days a week, it was decided that relocating to Brendale was a good move. The response from schools, teachers and the public in the local area has been amazing. Due to the expanding business, Amanda Russell joined John and Lesley early 2009 and is now the manager of the print music department. We welcomed Mitchell Morris early in 2010. Mitchell has just completed an accredited guitar repair course in the USA and is an avid guitar and blues harp player.

Repairs and Services on site for band instruments, pianos and guitars.

Music Lessons every week until 7:30pm and Saturdays till 4pm; including piano, guitar, vocal, and all band instruments.
